This involves training and establishing a PBL program for faculty and medical
students. Throughout the year tutor training workshops are held where I am
the principle trainer. These workshops last a week.
Other work experiences
include: professional faculty training, PBL case writing, end and mid of
semester assessment of programs and teaching educational classes for medical
students and faculty members. Planning and conducting educational workshops as:
1. Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs). 2. Students development through
class room activities. 3. Incorporating different learning styles in the
classrooms. 4. Creativity enhancement for college students. 5. How to write
proper exam questions 6. How to improve students’ reading and writing skills.
And 7.Time management. Also served on the quality assurance committee.
• 2002-2004: Intern at the Office of Professional
Faculty Development (OPD) in the Center
of Learning and Teaching at Indiana University
Purdue University
in Indianapolis
(IUPUI). This involved attending seminars, lectures and workshops that aimed
exclusively to improve teaching and assessment skills. Through OPD joined a
workshop that focused on training professors from different schools in
introducing and using problem based learning (PBL) as a teaching modality.
• 2003-2004: Member in the Faculty Learning Communities
program. Goals of the Faculty Learning Communities program include enhancing
undergraduate learning by increasing faculty interest, practice, and expertise
in teaching. These goals are achieved by providing safe, supportive communities
in which faculty can investigate and take risks in implementing new approaches
to teaching and by increasing the collaboration and coherence of learning
across disciplines.
2000- 2003: Problem
based learning (PBL) tutor for Indiana University School of Dentistry
(IUSD), Indianapolis IN, USA.
The worked included tutoring first and second years dental students besides
attending PBL seminars, workshops, and lectures provided by the Office of
Dental education (ODE) at IUSD. This also involved working as an assessor for
first and second year dental students and the participation in triple jump
examinations four times per year.
